Transition to School

We know taking the step to 'big school' can bring a range of emotions for students and parents and we pride ourselves on going that extra mile to make our new families feel settled and welcomed into our community.

Small Mercies Transition Program

Catherine McAuley School hosts children from local Kindergartens and Pre-Schools in transition days every year. While we contact early learning providers to take part in these days, if a provider does not offer the visits, parents can contact the school independently.

In addition, Catherine McAuley School’s Small Mercies Transition Program supports our Receptions to become comfortable and happy within our school environment.

We provide a wonderful opportunity for students to be immersed in the school community, its routines and structures prior to beginning school full time.

The flexible program caters for individual students, offering a series sessions to ensure a smooth and positive transition from the Pre-School experience into the formal school setting.

Throughout each session the students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of rich learning experiences which may include school prayer and a specialist lesson.
