Swimming
Elizabeth District Swimming Carnival (Salisbury)
Participation in these carnivals helps the students to develop valuable life skills such as cooperation, discipline, respect and sportsmanship.
Through our schools involvement in these sporting carnivals parents have been able to develop strong social networks and build a wonderful sense of community. -

Football
Each year the Central District Football Club (SANFL) conducts an AFL Auskick Centre on our school oval for 6 weeks on Thursday afternoons during Term 3.

Soccer
Year 4/5 and Year 6/7 Soccer Carnival (Elizabeth)
As the children at Catherine McAuley School move through the middle and upper primary age group they are given opportunities to represent the school in full day sports carnivals. The soccer carnival is always a popular event. -

Skip -a- thon
Each year Catherine McAuley School’s major fundraiser is our ‘School Skipathon.’
The school community is always energised on these special occasions where the children celebrate the many positive aspects of being active. The parent/caregivers continuous support and commitment to our school sporting activities is remarkable.

Catherine McAuley Cup
The Catherine McAuley Cup Run is held in Term 2 after our whole school Walkathon.
There is fierce rivalry to be the first to coss the line and the winning team is awarded the Catherine McAuley Cup.

Sports Day
Our School Sports Day is held in Term 4.
The school community is always a buzz on these special occasions where the children celebrate the many positive aspects of being active.
Sports Day also has the students competing for 2 special sports awards- the Sports Shield and the Spirit Cup.
The House Team which accumulates the most points for achievement during the day are awarded the Sports Day Shield.
The House Team which accumulates the most Keys to Success by striving to participate to their best ability are awarded the Spirit Cup.

Visiting sporting groups
Outside Sporting Groups regular visit our school to pass on to our children their expertise in their chosen sport.
In recent times we have been fortunate enough to have had visits from NRL rugby players, AFL and SANFL footballers, Footsteps Dance Program and Milo Cricket

South Australian Primary Schools Amateur Sports Association ( SAPSASA)
Our school is affiliated with SAPSASA (South Australian Primary Schools Amateur Sports Association).
This creates a fabulous opportunity for our students to participate against other schools.
Catherine McAuley School students in Years 5-7 have opportunities in representing the Elizabeth District in chosen sports.
Over the past 5 years our school has seen students represent the Elizabeth District in the following sports- netball, football, soccer, athletics, swimming and softball.

Life be in it
‘Life Be In It’ week is held biannually across the Playford Primary School / Catherine McAuley School campus. Throughout this week classes from across the campus join together to practice different sporting skills and build new friendships.
