Faith in Practice
Welcome to Catherine McAuley ~ Faith in Practice
At Catherine McAuley School the teaching of Religious Education is founded on the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels and therefore:
- is concerned with life experiences
- provides access to the tradition of the Catholic Church in a variety of ways
- leads to a deeper understanding of God's presence with us
- invites us to put our understandings into action
- faith formation of young people is a priority.
This is reflected in the quality of relationships between staff, students and parents.
Liturgy
We celebrate a weekly liturgy which is organised by a different class each time.
Students are very involved in these celebrations and families are welcome to attend.
We celebrate as a whole school at least once each term and visit our Parish church.
Religious Education Program
Religious Education is programmed, taught and assessed using high quality resources, best teaching practices which are inclusive of all learners and specific learning outcomes.
Sacramental Programme: the celebration of sacraments is offered through the Elizabeth Parish.
Prayer
Prayer is a key element not just within the Religious Education programme but throughout the whole life of the Catherine McAuley community and is vital in developing a relationship between ourselves and God.
Each class is involved in Daily Prayer experiences. These may take the form of formal prayers, whole class shared prayer, individual petitions, song, dance, meditation or silent prayer.
We start our week with whole school prayer.
At Catherine McAuley our students are encouraged to become involved in Outreach programmes such as 'Project Compassion', Catholic Charities, St Vincent de Paul and many others.
We make soup for Centa Care, knit blankets and collect food items at various times during the year to help those in hardship.
In this way students count their many blessings and work in small ways to create a better world.
